“The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak Chopra

Honestly, I found Deepak Chopra to be a little fluffy. I gave him a chance and I wanted to like it, I really did. Although this was a difficult read for me, I strive to learn lessons from any knowledge that I take the time to study. Here are some of those lessons. Ironically, after re-reading some of my notes on future postings, I keep finding myself coming back to this book. I guess I didn’t appreciate the magnitude of this advice and it’s inter-relation with many of the other themes that I find important.

  1. If you want joy, give joy to others; if you want love, learn to give love; if you want attention and appreciation, learn to give attention and appreciation; and if you want material affluence, help others to become materially affluent.
  2. Wherever I go, and whoever I encounter, I will bring them a gift. The gift may be a complement, a flower, or a prayer. Today I will give something to everyone I come in contact with, and so I will begin the process of circulating joy, wealth, and affluence in my life and in the lives of others.
  3. What are the consequences of this choice that I’m making? Will this choice bring fulfillment and happiness to me and also to those who are affected by this choice?
