I read this article years ago and I still apply many of the principles Mr. Palahnuik discusses. I particularily like the idea of cleansing your life of the many useless things that clutter our lives. Those things can be physical or otherwise. As someone that has moved nine times in ten years, I’m fortunate to be able to go through my physical possessions every couple of years. Re-assessing the other things in my life such as friends and feelings, are more difficult to decide whether they are worth keeping around. Read the original Men’s Health article here.
Consider the three C’s about death and something we should do a couple times a year: CLEAN, CULL, & CONNECT.
For CULL, ransack your files and discard everything except your important papers. The same goes for your closets and memorabilia—really all of your possessions. If you haven’t looked at it recently, toss it. Donate it. Destroy it. Throw all your history and secrets into the garbage.
